Lean Quality Six Sigma To Improve And Design Quality Management Systems

Provide lean quality six sigma tools online to improve and design existing and new quality management systems, and deliver high results

Lean Quality Six Sigma Performance

Six Sigma or Sigma is a Greek letter used to represent the distribution or spread about the mean (average) of any process or procedure. Six Sigma is used as a phrase to denote two different but related issues: It provides a MEASUREMENT that applies to all business processes, and it is a management philosophy that focuses on the improvement of processes (Six Sigma PM system) by keeping a process on target and reducing its variation.

However, it is important to note that Quality Six Sigma as a measurement tool does not give you strong insight into the process. Sigma should not be used as an analytical tool in your processes. Six Sigma approach enables to measure your process capability in quantifiable terms and monitor it for improvement over time.

Six Sigma Measure Process Capability

Six Sigma is a highly disciplined method that focuses on improving (DMAIC for Six Sigma )) or designing (DFSS for Six Sigma )) and delivering NEAR-PERFECT products and services consistently. Six Sigma is also a management strategy to use statistical tools and project work to achieve breakthrough profitability and gains in quality.

Six Sigma is a statistical process management tool that enable to measures process capability and variation although there is an order of magnitude change between sigma levels. Six (6) sigma is 20,000 times better than Three (3) sigma. And, companies applying this six sigma concept are of world class performance. Six Sigma tools enable to eliminates causes of defects in business process and quality management systems by focusing on outputs that are of critical importance to customers.

Six Sigma Management Philosophy

A number of factors have come together that has caused entrepreneurs and companies to decide that World Class Quality was the next great challenge and opportunity for them. Customers are demanding better quality and improving a process is always possible. So, a growing number of companies (Motorola, Texas Instruments and Allied-Signal to name a few) have achieved dramatically better quality levels through a disciplined, rigorous approach such as DMAIC for Six Sigma, and DFSS for Six Sigma that has yielded better customer satisfaction and total cost productivity.

Tremendous progresses in all quality levels have enabled these companies to offer better products and services than their competitors. So, WORLD CLASS COMPANIES have demonstrated that we can do a lot better if we take a rigorous Six Sigma approach to quality improvement. World Class Quality is your next great opportunity as a company, and focusing on Six Sigma can be the right method.

Six Sigma Proces Tool analysis

Six Sigma is a statistical term that refers to the standard deviation of a process about its mean. In a normally distributed process, 99.73% of measurements will fall within +/- Six Sigma. So, a process, with a normal distribution and normal variation of the mean, would need to have specification limits of +/- 6 sigma in order to produce less than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. This defect rate can be referred to as defects per opportunity (DPO), or defect per million opportunities (DPMO).

It should be noted that the term Six Sigma has been applied to many operations including those with non-normal distributions, for which a calculation of sigma would be inappropriate. But, the principle remains the same, deliver near perfect products and services by improving the process and eliminating defects. The end objective is to delight customers.

In the context of total quality and performance Six Sigma process focuses on improving business process(es) or system(s) by translating customer needs and expectations into a robust product, service or quality management system.

SIX SIGMA BEST PRACTICES

The fundamental objective of Six Sigma concept is the implementation of a measurement-based strategy that focuses on process improvement and variation reduction through the application of Project Management tools. This is accomplished through the use of two fundamental techniques or methods: DMAIC and DMADV.

WHAT EXPERTS ARE SAYING

“According to the Six Sigma Academy, managers and employees mastering Six Sigma tools save companies approximately $230,000 per project and can complete four to 6 projects per year. General Electric, with which I have obtained my certification with, one of the most successful international companies has implemented Six Sigma for few decades, and has estimated benefits on the order of $10 billion during the first five years of implementation”
